Highlights of Services
Prenatal Diagnosis (PND)
Prenatal diagnosis is a test for the couples with self history or family history of any genetic disease or a positive carrier genetic test result who want to know if their fetus is affected by the same disease or not. The ultimate goal of PND test is to inform couples about the risk of a birth defect or genetic disorder in their pregnancy and to provide them with informed choices on how to manage that risk.
Genetic Counseling
Genetic counseling in Farabi Lab gives you information about how genetic conditions might affect you or your family. We will collect your personal and family health history and use this information to determine how likely it is that you or your family member has a genetic condition. Based on this information, the genetic counselor can help you decide whether a genetic test might be right for you or your relative.
Non-Invasive Prenatal Test (NIPT)
During pregnancy, DNA originating from fetus crosses into mother’s blood stream. These cell free fetal DNA fragments are used to detect fetal chromosomal aberrations such as 21, 18, 13, X, and Y trisomies and a number of genetic conditions. This test is available as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy.
